I trained as a life coach with internationally acclaimed life coach and author Martha Beck and Master life coach Judy Klipin. Perhaps because I have seen so many of my own “wildly impossible goals’ come true I have always held that if we passionately desire to do something, then usually that is exactly what we are meant to be doing.
I believe that our deepest desires and dreams are an expression of our ‘personal vocation’, the unique meaning and purpose of our life. My own desire is to help people rediscover their dreams and to help them to find ways of making those dreams a reality.
My fascination with the overlap between the emotional and spiritual life led me to study first for a Masters in Educational Psychology and then for a Masters Degree in Christian Spirituality from the University of London. I trained to give silent individually guided eight and thirty day retreats at a retreat centre in North Wales. During my own 30 day silent retreat the image of the sunset recurred again and again and became symbolic for me of the importance of always choosing what is truly life-giving. On my return to South Africa I set up a centre for retreat giving and spiritual direction in Johannesburg which has been offering retreats and training for retreat facilitators in various parts of the country for the past ten years.
I am in the process of submitting my PhD degree which is in the interface between psychology and spirituality. An important aspect which I address in this work is how relational and imaginative processes can facilitate psychological and spiritual growth.
I also give talks and facilitate group personal development workshops. These include Journaling, Dare to Dream, Holistic Decision Making; the Enneagram and Voice Dialogue.
